What will change for WhatsApp users in April

New options for saving voice messages, larger files… These are the new features that WhatsApp users should expect this month.

WhatsApp allows larger files to be sent

Until today, WhatsApp did not allow you to send files larger than 100 MB. Service users were forced to go through an app like WeTransfer to send larger files to each other.

In several Latin American countries, WhatsApp has just revised this limit upwards. From now on, users can exchange files of 2 GB. A sufficient size to transfer, for example, video files.

The novelty is reserved for a small panel of testers, but should be available to everyone later this month.

A new voice message recording system

Already available in Belgium on most terminals, the new option for recording voice messages offers many more options to users.

It thus becomes possible to pause a voice recording to resume it later. In the discussion thread, the user can also choose to speed up the reading of audio messages, by multiplying the reading speed by 1.5 or 2. Convenient for quickly listening to information.

Finally, the reading of voice messages can also be done outside the chat. When he leaves the conversation to return to other conversations and reply to another contact, the user can continue to listen to the audio message he started listening to. Handy for long voice memos!

All this is also accompanied by some changes in the interface, which will be easier to use.

The ability to hide the last login time

Currently being deployed on Android, this new function will limit access to certain information displayed on the user profile. For example, the date and time of the last connection, the “About” section or even the profile picture.

Service users can choose to open access to their information to everyone, to their contacts only, to no one or to limit access to specific contacts.
