More than five months have passed since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. Although President Putin has been criticized by the international community for being “an outrageous act by a dictator,” he does not seem to be slowing down his invasion. As Russia increasingly isolates itself from the international community, attention is focused on where the dictatorship ends up. When we unravel world history, what kind of dictators existed in the past, and what kind of end did they face? In this article, I would like to cover the “last moments” of five dictators.

The Different Ends of Dictator Mussolini and Hitler

Adolf Hitler, Chancellor of Germany, is known as the greatest dictator of the 20th century. Backed by his immense popularity among the people, Hitler repeatedly made reckless invasions of other countries. In 1940 he founded the Auschwitz concentration camp in southern Poland. In order to fulfill his promise of “anti-Semitism”, which was supported by many Germans, he carried out the genocide of Jews.

More than 40 assassination plots fell on Hitler. In one case, someone accidentally moved a bag containing a bomb a few centimeters, saving his life.

Hitler escaped assassinations many times, but when Germany was likely to lose on all fronts, he was cornered. From 16 January 1945 he has been living in a bunker.

On April 16th, Soviet forces successfully encircled the German capital of Berlin. Hitler commits suicide with his mistress Eva Braun in his room on April 30, as Soviet troops make their way to the Chancellery. Hitler is said to have chewed up a capsule of potassium cyanide and shot himself in the temple, causing Eva to commit suicide by taking poison. Is it to repay you for your hard work? The day before his suicide, Hitler wrote his will and married Eva.

Meanwhile, in Italy, Hitler’s esteemed dictator Mussolini was shot dead. Two days before Hitler committed suicide. Mussolini, along with his mistress Clara and executives, was hanged upside down in the square in front of the station in Milan as an example, and his body was kicked by the public.

As if the enthusiastic support at the peak was a dream, it fell to a tragic end. Hitler would have chosen to end his own life in order to avoid such an experience.
