A doll, a criminal case: There are many anecdotes to tell regarding the violinist Erica Morini. She wanted a doll with sleeping eyes following she had played for Emperor Franz Joseph. She was still a child prodigy then, the daughter of a violinist who bequeathed his talented child a Stradivarius that was stolen decades later.
To date, the case has not been solved. A final dissonance in an artist’s life that had been rich in well-balanced, beautiful, spotlessly intonated tones: Morini, one of the last representatives of a Viennese violin tone, which was still cultivated by a Wolfgang Schneiderhan, a Willi Boskovsky.
