The evacuation of civilians in the region of Louhanskin the east ofUkrainewas suspended on Monday following an armored convoy was hit by shrapnel from Russian shells, killing a french journalist, said the regional governor. Serhi Gaïdaï wrote on the app Telegram that the shrapnel had pierced the armor of the vehicle, killing the accredited French journalist who was inside. The governor provided a photo of a press credential identifying the reporter.

Killed on a humanitarian bus
According Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Frederic Leclerc-Imhoff been “hit by shrapnel while filming an evacuation of civilians”.
“According to our information, the journalist was killed on the road between Lissitchansk and Bakhmout, in the Luhansk oblast. The Russian army allegedly fired on the evacuation vehicle where the journalist was and the shot pierced the armour. Our colleague was hit in the neck”says Christophe Deloire, secretary general of RSF.
In a tweet, Emmanuel Macron claims he was “mortally hit” while “on board a humanitarian bus, alongside civilians forced to flee to escape Russian bombs”. His colleague Maxime Brandstaetter was also injured and evacuated to Dnipro.
According to a press release from BFM TV, Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff had worked for the channel for 6 years. This was his second mission to Ukraine since the start of the invasion.
