Marcelo Ebrard, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE)reported that Guatemalan workers will contribute to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS)after an agreement between the leaders of Mexico and Guatemala, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and Alejandro Gimmatei Falla.
According to the agreement, 25,000 Guatemalan workers will contribute to the IMSS.

Among other actions agreed upon by both presidents is the start of the program Sowing Life in Chimaltenangothe installation of a new consulate in Peténand promote more air and land connectivity between the two countries.
“Mexico and Guatemala, brother peoples. Who does IMSS protection apply to?
The decision was also announced by the head of the IMSS, Zoé Robledowho gave the details of the agreement.

He explained in a video that social security will be for Guatemalan workers who work in the border area of Mexico.
“What does this imply? That Guatemalan border workers who come to work in our country, in the states that make up the southern border, that is, Chiapas, Tabasco and Campeche, and that they enter with the border worker visitor card, which is issued by the Migration’s national institutenow that they have curphis affiliation to the IMSS”, he explained.
This means that the agreement applies only to migrants working in Mexico and not to Guatemalan citizens residing in their country of origin.
AMLO, on tour in Central America
President López Obrador is found in Guatemala as part of a business tour Central America and Cuba.

As part of his tour of Central America and the Caribbean, President López Obrador will arrive in Havana on Saturday afternoon, as he will have various activities on Sunday, as well as a meeting with President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
“I regret the explosion of the Hotel Saratoga in Havana, Cuba. Our solidarity to victims and affected as well as to the people of that endearing brother town. The planned tour is proceeding as planned,” she later wrote on Twitter.
