The arrested shooter hired to kill the late Baba Siddiqui, the former minister of the Indian state of Maharashtra, has revealed that he also had a ‘Plan B’ to target the politician.
On 12 October, Indian political figure and Salman Khan’s close friend Baba Siddiqui was murdered by 3 gunmen in Mumbai, for which the Lawrence gang claimed responsibility. A gang member wrote on social media that “Salman Khan’s supporters will not be spared.”
Later, the police arrested dozens of people for Baba Siddiqui’s murder.
Pune resident Gaurav Vilas Apone was recently arrested as the 16th accused in the high-profile Baba Siddiqui murder case, according to Indian media. During the investigation, Apone reveals that 6 shooters were hired as a backup plan.
The arrested shooter told the police that the mastermind, Shubham Lonkar, gave him weapons and sent him to Jharkhand, where he carried out several firing exercises. Before leaving for Jharkhand, Apone told his family that he was going to Madhya Pradesh with friends.
The accused further said that mastermind Lonkar had promised him Rs 25 lakh, tickets to Dubai, a flat and a car in case of shooting Baba Siddiqui.
It should also be noted that there is concern among Bollywood star Salman Khan’s fans about his security, which has increased after Baba Siddiqui’s murder. After Baba Siddiqui’s murder, the Lawrence Bishnoi group threatened to target anyone who helped Salman Khan.

**Interview with Crime Expert Dr. Anisha Rao**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Rao. The recent murder of Baba Siddiqui, linked to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, has sent shockwaves through both the political and Bollywood communities. What do you make of the claim that there was a ‘Plan B’ involving six backup shooters?
**Dr. Rao:** It’s alarming and speaks volumes about the level of premeditation involved in Siddiqui’s murder. The extent to which the gang planned this operation suggests that they are operating with a high degree of organization and intent. It raises serious questions about security for not just public figures but also their associates.
**Interviewer:** Certainly, the implications for Salman Khan and his supporters are profound. Given the threats to them, do you believe this kind of violence is becoming increasingly normalized in India?
**Dr. Rao:** Unfortunately, yes. When gangs can openly threaten high-profile individuals and get away with it, it sends a dangerous message that violence is an acceptable means of resolving conflict. This culture of fear could deter many from supporting celebrities like Salman Khan, fundamentally altering the social landscape.
**Interviewer:** What should be the immediate steps taken by law enforcement to ensure the safety of those at risk, especially in the entertainment industry?
**Dr. Rao:** Authorities need to enhance protective measures for individuals who may be in danger. This could include increased security around public figures and their families and more stringent actions against gangs that threaten violence. Establishing clearer channels for reporting threats could also empower individuals to seek help before it’s too late.
**Interviewer:** One final thought: with such serious implications for different communities in India, do you believe the public will demand more action from the government to tackle organized crime?
**Dr. Rao:** Absolutely. I think this incident is just one of many that highlight the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to combat organized crime. The public sentiment will likely push for accountability, which could ultimately lead to more significant reforms in law enforcement protocols.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Dr. Rao, for your insights.
**Question for Readers:** With a pattern of violent crimes surfacing in the political sphere and Bollywood, do you believe the government is doing enough to protect public figures, or is it time for stricter laws against organized crime?
