What to watch out for with “colored” electricity tariffs – INKA advice to consumers

In view of changing the Institute of Consumers (INKA) of the General Federation of Consumers of Greeceinforms that if no change has been made to the consumer’s contract, the provider is not obliged to inform and if the contract expires or has already expired, they will automatically be included in the green variable tariff.

This does not mean that the consumer is obliged to follow it. He will be able, after deciding that it is not the invoice he wants, to change it.

Advice to consumers

  • They should know that any additional charge is prohibited in case they choose to have their bill on paper, i.e. delivered to their home instead of their mobile phone.
  • The biggest lure companies have right now is the consistency discount. If a consistency discount is applied throughout the contract, the consumer will be rewarded for some months.
  • Don’t be seduced by very big offers, because it could only be a discount for the first month. Here with the floating tariff option any misleading assurances that we have secured you the best possible price should not influence the consumer’s judgement.
  • Also, in the floating tariff the consumer is not protected from any increases in the price of electricity.

On the new invoices, consumers will see that the link referring to the website of RAE and e-katanalotis will be written and it will also be with a QR code. There it will be possible to check the charge that the provider has entered into with the consumer, in relation to competing offers or companies.

If this link does not exist, this practically means that this type of pricing has been checked by RAE and is out of scope. Therefore, at this point the consumer should be particularly careful. It is good to be with recognized companies, because it has nothing to do with the cost of electricity but also with the general services offered by a provider, such as information and customer protection

The colored invoices

Blue fixed charge invoices

We will now have the blue electricity tariff, which will be fixed pricing. It will be an agreement between consumer and provider for a specific period of time, with a fixed price, regardless of the price it will have on the Energy Exchange.
Of course, it is the most expensive to offer a fixed tariff, as the consumer is guaranteed that he will not see exorbitant bills.

Green variable charge invoices, different per month

Those who have not chosen a provider will be included in this tariff. That is, of those consumers whose contract expires in 2024 and have not chosen a specific offer. It will be variable and the price will be announced on the RAE website, from where the consumer will be able to see what price will be billed per month.
Each month a different price will be published, depending on the stock market fluctuation.

Yellow mixed charge invoices

It is a tariff that will basically be variable. But which will vary according to the offers that the consumer can choose for what interests him.

Orange tariffs exclusively for smart meter consumers

In this invoice, the consumer should have installed a smart meter on his watch, which is also the most secure system, as he is informed of the charge and the charge fluctuates on a daily basis, again depending on the course of the Energy Exchange.
