This Sunday, August 18, the television schedule will be filled with outstanding films so that viewers can enjoy a relaxing weekend night in front of the television.
Some of the feature films on offer range from ‘Lo que arde’, which won two Goya awards, to ‘Ocho apellidos catalanes’, a successful sequel to ‘Ocho apellidos vascos’.
Spain. 2019. 89 m. ‘Drama’. Director: Oliver Laxe. Performers: Amador Arias, Benedicta Sánchez, Ivan Yañez, Inazio Abrao, Rubén Gómez Coelho, Alvaro de Bazal.
22.30 hours. La2. When Amador Coro, a well-known Galician arsonist accused of causing another fire, is released from prison, no one is waiting for him. He returns to his village, deep in rural Galicia, where he lives with his mother, his dog, and three cows. Their lives will become a nightmare when a scorching fire ravages the area and the lives of the people. After two first feature films in Morocco, ‘Todos vós sodes capitanos’ in 2010 and ‘Mimosas’ in 2016, the French-Spanish director Oliver Laxe delves into his Galician roots in ‘O Que Arde’. The film explores the human fascination and at the same time the fear they feel for fire and the consequences that this entails. Starring two non-professional actors, Amador Arias and Benedicta Sánchez, the film was shot in the Os Ancares region, Galicia, and is spoken entirely in Galician.
The film is an initiative of the Master in Creative Documentary from Idec-Pompeu Fabra University and won the jury prize in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section at the Cannes Film Festival.
