Mr. Idrissa AG Intagarass, head of post of the High Council for the Unity of Azawad (HCUA) in the Coordination of Movements of Azawad (CMA), announced his resignation as well as that of his combatants in a public statement. This decision is considered wise and salutary due to the reasons given by the author.
According to the now former head of the HCUA post in the rural commune of RAZ ELMA, this resignation is part of the strong commitment of their populations and combatants to fully participate in the tireless efforts of the transitional government and the actors of the peace to complete the implementation of the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement (APR) and establish a climate of peace, social cohesion and living together among all the communities.
Mr. Idrissa AG Intagarass adds that this resignation is also part of a logic of consistency with the expectations of their communities as well as the orientations of the government and the majority of the actors in the process. He thanks all the actors of the APR, in particular his former movement, the HCUA, and wishes a sincere and unfailing commitment in favor of the diligent implementation of the Agreement.
Although some consider that this decision does not affect the Coordination of Movements of Azawad, analysts believe that it is of great symbolic importance. It testifies to the awareness of those who resigned as to the importance of efforts for peace and reconciliation, as well as their manifest desire to bury the hatchet for the implementation of the Agreement resulting from the process of Algiers, which has been late since 2015.
