“Thank you for the shared decisions, for the deliveries to our Defense. Thank you for the lives we have saved thanks to your solidarity”he wrote on Twitter, a few days following his official visit to Poland.
As a reminder, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced on Wednesday that his country was ready to deliver to kyiv, its entire fleet of MiG-29 fighter aircraftmaking a total of around thirty devices. On this day, the two countries also signed agreements on deliveries of Polish weapons to Ukraine, including Rosomak armored carriers, as well as joint production of ammunition for tanks.
Pope calls for end to conflict
As in 2022, Pope Francis gave a special place to the war in Ukraine, during his traditional message “Urbi et Orbi” on the occasion of Easter. He spoke to some 100,000 worshipers gathered in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
“Comfort the wounded and those who have lost loved ones to war and ensure that prisoners can return safely to their families”, declared the sovereign pontiff. He also called on the international community to “put an end to this war and to all the conflicts that bloody the world”.
Father and daughter killed by Russian strikes in Zaporizhia, kyiv says
A 50-year-old man and his 11-year-old daughter were killed by Russian strikes that hit their home in Zaporizhia, southeastern Ukraine, Ukrainian officials said. The girl died while being transported by ambulance, said the mayor of the city, Anatolii Kurtiev. According to him, two missiles fired by Russian forces hit a residential area, damaging the windows and roofs of a dozen homes.
