Season 2 is fast approaching, and with it comes a whole host of new in-game features!
New Ramattra tank and shambali monastery map
Ramattra, the brand new hero ofOverwatch 2, comes first. To honor his revolutionary designs, Ramattra is the first tank capable of completely changing shape, allowing him to modify his abilities and playstyle at any time.
In our new Escort map, shambali monastery, you can walk the windy paths taken by the many omnics who have taken refuge there. Outwit your opponents and take control of the former home of Zenyatta and Ramattra.
New season, new balance
This new season ofOverwatch 2 makes balance changes to bring some heroes back to a similar level as other characters.
Measurements and player feedback indicate that Sojourn currently dominates the higher competitive ranks, and poses too much of a challenge against characters that don’t have the same perks. To address this, we’ll be focusing on his Railgun damage, and encouraging players to use Sojourn’s high mobility to close the distance for more devastating secondary shots.
Doomfist is getting some significant changes to help him better occupy the front lines for his team, while maintaining the playstyle that is this hero’s identity. Also expect some tweaks to Ana, Bastion, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Ange, and Symmetra when the update releases on December 6.
Back to your favorite destinations
A new season means new card selection. Beyond our new map, Shambali Monastery, players will have the opportunity to return to one of their favorite maps, Rialto, as well as the most epic location on earth, Blizzard World (some attractions not may not be available due to weather). You will also be able to browse Oasis and Nepal at different times of the day, and 2 maps leave the selection: Hollywood and Observatory: Gibraltar. As a reminder, cards that are no longer part of the selection are still accessible in custom games.
Greek mythology and the battle for Olympus
The theme for season 2 is devoted to the gods and legends of Greek mythology! The ultimate Season 2 Premium Battle Pass reward is the all-new Mythic Queen of Junkers Zeus model. This model includes new customization options, weapon models, replicas and special effects. Progress through the Premium Battle Pass to cover yourself in the glory of the Old Gods with the Legendary Skins Ramattra Poseidon and Pharah Hades.
These heroes and many more will be imbued with divine powers in the new Battle for Olympus game mode. This new limited-time event will take place from January 5 to 19. Keep an eye out for models that appear throughout the season, they may hold clues to what’s to come during the Battle for Olympus!
Seasonal events and drops on Twitch
The Winter Wonderland and Lunar New Year events are back with new and improved rewards. During each event of the season, including the battle for Olympus, you will get a model as a reward for the challenges. You will be able to get your hands on the epic model of Ice Queen Brigitte, the legendary model of Winged Victory Angel and the legendary model Echo kkachi.
You’ll also be able to earn more Season 2 rewards by watching your favorite content creators play Overwatch 2 on Twitch. Keep an eye out for a Legendary skin for Ramattra and more drops on Twitch this season!
Challenges to unlock heroes
In Season 2, we are introducing new challenges for players to unlock new heroes.
Players who were unable to unlock Kiriko during Season 1 or those starting the game with Season 2 can obtain the new heroes by selecting the challenge corresponding to the desired hero. They will then have to learn the hero’s abilities on the shooting range, then win games ofOverwatch. For those who do not wish to complete the challenges, it is always possible to unlock the new heroes directly in the in-game store. As a reminder, holders ofOverwatch 1 will automatically receive the new heroes Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko upon logging into the game before the end of Season 2. Players who started with Overwatch 2 got Sojourn and the Junker Queen as Season 1 login bonuses.
Many surprises to come
Overwatch is growing, both in terms of the player community, but also of our team and the game itself. As with any online service, Overwatch 2 will be constantly improved and enriched.
