The award ceremony for the “14th Location Japan Award” (selected by the magazine “Location Japan”), which is given to works and regions that have contributed to the revitalization of tourism, was held on the 15th at Shibuya Scramble Square, Tokyo, and Arashi’s Jun Matsumoto ( Last year’s NHK taiga drama “Dosuru Ieyasu,” in which 40) starred, and Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture won the Grand Prix. This is the first Grand Prix win for a taiga drama in 13 years, since the first time in 2010 for “Ryomaden” and Kochi Prefecture (at the time, it was classified into the movie and drama categories).

Chief Producer Tomoaki Iso, who is in charge of production, said, “I’m thrilled to have won the grand prize!Jun Matsumoto and many of the performers visited Hamamatsu, the stage location, and each time they visited, we received a lot of energy.“Hamamatsu Festival” It was a moment when the drama and the citizens truly became one.Just as Ieyasu had his vassals, we have always had the people of Hamamatsu with us.”

33 movies, dramas, and anime works released and broadcasted from November 1, 2012 to October 31, 2013, based on local feel, topicality, and ease of filming locations, and their filming locations.・65 regions were nominated. In addition to the 20,000 general voting points and the continuity of attracting local filming locations, the following four selection criteria were used to calculate the score out of 1,000.

(1) Support rate (results from a general survey of 20,000 people) (2) Ease of travel (location map, storyteller, availability of tours, etc.) (3) Shooting support level (location support organization, presence of repeat shooting staff, availability of shooting counters, etc.) (4) Changes in the region (increase in the number of tourists and economic effects due to the work, creation of products related to the work, commercial conversion effect, media exposure, etc.).

The selection point for “What to do with Ieyasu” was that approximately 2.6 million people visited the “Hamamatsu Festival” held on May 5th, and Matsumoto and other cast members appeared in the “Ieyasu cavalry warrior procession”. Locally produced bento boxes supervised by Matsumoto also received a great response. 640,000 people also visited the Taiga Drama Museum. Events and campaigns inviting the cast were held and continued to be disseminated, creating excitement from the filming locations.

This is the 62nd Taiga drama, with an original script written by Ryota Furusawa, who also worked on the “Legal High” and “Confidence Man JP” series. How did the lord of Mikawa, a weak country, survive the Warring States period and achieve the unification of Japan? It has been 40 years since the first shogun of the Edo shogunate was featured as the sole protagonist, since “Tokugawa Ieyasu” in 1983. I drew a new statue of Ieyasu that has been updated to the Reiwa version. This is Furusawa’s first attempt at writing a Taiga script. This was Matsumoto’s first starring role in Taiga.
