What to do if you don't receive the WhatsApp verification code

One of the main requirements of having an account on WhatsAppthe most used messenger in Brazil and one of the most popular in the world, is an active phone number — at least for now.

However, you may face some kind of difficulty when trying to confirm it. Therefore, we separate below some tips on what to do in these cases — more specifically, for iPhone users.

Make sure the app is updated to the latest version. This can be done by opening the App Store, tapping on your photo (in the top right corner) and going to “Updates”.
Make sure you have a stable internet connection on your iPhone.
The telephone number also needs to be filled in in full international format, with +55 (the Brazilian code) before your area code and your number.
Uninstall and install WhatsApp again (making sure your backup is up to date, obviously). Then restart your iPhone and try again.

VoIP-type telephone numbers, telephone exchanges and those that are not associated with a carrier will not be able to receive the verification code.
If you have not received the verification code via SMS message, WhatsApp may call you. Just wait for the five minute countdown and don’t change the number. After that, tap on “Call me”.
Note that, if you use iCloud Keychain and have already confirmed it previously, confirmation may occur automatically — without having to send a new code via SMS.
