What to do if you can’t use the Music app in CarPlay

In addition to being able to be used on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and HomePod, the Apple Music is also available in the multimedia center of cars compatible with the CarPlay.

  • Check if the car’s sound system is working. If you can, test the radio or another audio app available on CarPlay, such as Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, etc.
  • Check whether Apple Music can be used with your iPhone’s cellular data. To check this, open Settings, tap Music and turn on “Cellular Data”.
  • Make sure background updates are turned on for the Music app. To check this, open Settings, tap General » Update in 2nd Plan and see if the switch is turned on next to “Music”.
  • Make sure your Apple Music plan hasn’t exceeded the number of currently active users.
  • Disconnect your iPhone from CarPlay and connect once more.
  • If you are using a wired CarPlay connection, try using a different cable. If you’re using CarPlay wirelessly, try connecting it via cable to see if anything changes.
  • Always keep your iPhone software updated to the latest system version.
  • Reset your iPhone’s network settings. To do this, go to Settings » General » Transfer or Reset iPhone » Reset Network Settings.
