What to do if you can’t set up your AirTag

It’s hard to believe, but the AirTag is about to complete two years of life. Since then, despite some controversies, we can say that this small device has already helped many people to find their keys, bags or other important objects — all using the app’s network. Look for (Find My).

So if you are a new owner of this tracker and are having difficulties configuring it on your devices, below are some tips that can help resolve this situation.

  • Make sure your iPhone/iPad Bluetooth is turned on and has two-factor authentication enabled.
  • The Find My app also needs to be activated before adding an AirTag.
  • Make sure you’re in a location with a good Wi-Fi or cellular network connection.
  • Location Services also needs to be enabled on your iPhone/iPad. To check this out, go to Settings » Privacy and Security » Location Services.
  • If the AirTag setup animation disappears from the screen, press the iPhone/iPad side/top button and then unlock it again. Wait about 15 seconds for it to appear again.
  • If you have multiple AirTags lying around at the moment, make sure you only leave the one you want to activate nearby.
  • Open the AirTag battery compartment and check if there is any contact problem or, if necessary, replace it.
  • If you’re still having trouble configuring your AirTag, try resetting it.

If even after that, the accessory still doesn’t work, contact Apple support. This can be done at one of the two Apple Stores located in Brazil or an Apple Authorized Service Center.
