What to do if you bought an iPhone 14 without a SIM card slot – Wylsacom

On September 16, sales of the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro started. Our channel already has a first look at the new product:

For the US market, the company released smartphones without a physical slot for SIM cards. Given that there are no official Apple deliveries to Russia, such devices will definitely appear. And what to do with them?

eSIM support in the iPhone appeared with the release of the iPhone XS. Each new model supported eSIM but also offered a physical card slot. eSIM is a SIM card built into iPhone that is set up on your smartphone.

Each iPhone 14 model can store up to eight different eSIMs, two of which can be used at the same time.

How to set up an iPhone 14 without a SIM card slot

iOS 16 has a new feature that is especially relevant for new models – eSIM transfer. When you first set up your smartphone, you will be prompted to port your current number. Keep in mind that this only works between devices with iOS 16. Also, the function may be limited by the operator if it does not allow you to transfer the eSIM to another device.

If the method did not work, then the eSIM on the new iPhone will have to be configured manually. And here it all depends on the already activated profile: if the QR code for setting was one-time, contact the operator, describe the problem and wait for an answer with options. If the QR code is reusable and involves use on different devices, the order is as follows:

  1. In the settings of the old smartphone, go to “Cellular” and click “Remove cellular plan”.
  2. On a new smartphone, go to “Cellular” and click “Add Cellular Plan”, scan the QR code and wait for confirmation.

If nothing works, contact the operator. It is possible that eSIM number portability is not possible in your case, and you will have to change it.
