A new type of telephone fraud is gaining momentum in Russia. Attackers call allegedly from a mobile operator and ask to dial a few numbers on the phone. As a result, money flows out of the accounts.
Posing as support staff of mobile operators, scammers tell their victims that their phone number will be disconnected soon. Also, scammers can tell a person that he needs to reissue a contract for the provision of communication services, change the tariff to a more profitable one, or disable a paid service. Sometimes they say that the client has received an application to change the mobile operator while maintaining the number. To confirm or cancel one of these actions, a person is prompted to dial a certain combination of numbers.
