The application Compass (Compass) it’s been available on Apple smartphones since the iPhone 3GS and on the Apple Watch since the Series 5. It lets you track your orientation, location, and elevation in real time.
On Apple Watches with watchOS 9 installed, this can be taken to a new level – as it allows you to use functions such as Retrace and Intermediate Points, for example.
However, if things are not working as they should, we have selected below some causes and solutions for this! ⌚️
- On iPhone, make sure location services are turned on. Open Settings and go to Privacy & Security » Location Services and turn on “Location Services”. Then, tap on “System Services” and see if the compass calibration is activated and check, in the Compass settings, if the option “While using the App” is activated.
- If you’re using an Apple Watch, check your band type. Apple-manufactured leather, leather-link, and Milanese-style models, as well as Sport Loop models released before September 2019, use magnets or magnetic material that may interfere with the compass.
- Apple advises that some locations may cause other interference with the compass, such as cars, heavily populated urban areas and closed places, for example.
- Restart iPhone and Apple Watch; then try again.
- On the iPhone, try deleting the Compass app and installing it again from the App Store.
- Try restoring your iPhone/Apple Watch to factory settings.
If after this, issues are still occurring with the compass, contact Apple to have an evaluation performed on your device. You can do this by calling 0800-761-0880, via the website or the Support app, available on the App Store.
