O FaceTimeintroduced by Steve Jobs at the launch of the iPhone 4, now allows users to make and receive video calls in a very practical and simple way.
Over time, Apple expanded this feature to iPads and Macs as well — in addition to also making it possible to make voice-only calls using FaceTime on these devices and also on the Apple Watch.
Because if you use it and, for some reason, you are facing problems, we separate below some tips that can help solve them.
- Check that the FaceTime network is not currently experiencing any issues. This can be checked on Apple’s System Status page.
- On iPhone/iPad, open Settings, tap “FaceTime” and turn off the feature. Then activate it once more; on Mac, open FaceTime, click FaceTime » Settings… in the menu bar and, in the “General” tab, click on “Activate this account” to uncheck it and check it once more.
- Always keep your iPhone, iPad and Mac updated to the latest version of the corresponding operating systems.
- Check if the device is connected to cellular network or Wi-Fi; If you use FaceTime on your cellular plan, make sure it’s turned on by going to Settings » Mobile.
- If you’re using a Wi-Fi network, make sure it’s stable by testing it with other services or websites — we have one of our own, here at MM.
- If you can’t activate FaceTime the first time, make sure the date and time are correct and your Apple ID is correct. On Mac, you can also reset NVRAM.
- Still on Macs, check if a newly installed software, such as a security firewall, VPN or any other, is not blocking one of the network ports used by the service. If necessary, disable the program and then try using FaceTime once more.
- Make sure there isn’t a problem with your camera and/or microphone.
If you’re still having trouble activating or using FaceTime in practice, contact Apple Support. You can do this by calling 0800-761-0880, on the website or in the Support app.
If you live in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, you can still make an appointment at one of the two Apple Stores or, in other regions, at an Apple Authorized Service Center.
We hope you can solve the problems! ????
