What to do if Double Tap on your Apple Watch isn’t working

2023-10-28 21:00:00

The main new feature of the Apple Watches Series 9 and Ultra 2, the Double Tap (Double Tap) was finally released to users as part of the watchOS 10.1. With this, you can control various system functions without even having to touch the screen.

Although very useful, things may not always work as they should. If you are experiencing any problems related to using the gesture, we have put together some tips below that may help.

Let’s go?! ????

The gesture is already activated by default, but you can check this in practice. On your Apple Watch, open Settings, tap “Gestures” and turn on “Double Tap”. You can also check this through the iPhone’s Watch app, within the “Gestures” area. To use Double Tap, you must wake your Apple Watch first. Therefore, raise your wrist until the screen “lights up” and only then make the gesture. Double Tap may not work while you are going up or down stairs, running or cycling. Try standing still to see if it will trigger. According to Apple, it may also not work if you have a tattoo on your wrist. In this case, try placing the watch on another arm. Make sure your Apple Watch is securely attached to your wrist and is unlocked. Double Tap will not work if Low Power Mode, Sleep focus, Theater Mode, or Water Lock are on. To check this, open the Control Center by pressing the side button (the one below the Digital Crown). Make sure your Apple Watch isn’t set up for a family member using Family Setup (not available in Brazil). Double Tap cannot be used in conjunction with other accessibility features such as AssistiveTouch, Quick Actions, Zoom with Hand Gestures, or VoiceOver with Hand Gestures. On Apple Watch, go to “Settings” and “Passcode ” to check if “Detect Arm” is turned on. Go to “Settings” and tap “Screen and Brightness”. Next, check if “Wake on Arm Lift” is enabled. If you pinch and the Double Tap icon shakes at the top in an app, it means that it is not compatible with that function. Remember that, for now, Double Tap only works with Apple Watches Series 9 or Ultra 2 running watchOS 10.1 at a minimum.

We hope that, following these tips, you can use this new feature around! ⌚️
