The resource of Dictation (Dictation) It has been present on Apple devices for several years. Through it, you can dictate the words that will appear in the text field of a message, a note or something like that — which will be transcribed in a few seconds.
Despite being very useful at times, things may not always work as they should. Therefore, we have put together some tips on what can be done in these cases.
Check out! ????️
- First check if the function is activated.
- On iPhone/iPad, open Settings, go to General » Keyboard and see if “Enable Dictation” is turned on.
- On your Mac, open System Settings, click “Keyboard” and check “Dictation”.
- On your Apple Watch, open Settings, tap “General”, then “Dictation” and confirm that it is turned on.
- See if the Dictation is available in the language you are using.
- Check that there is no problem with your internet network at the moment — whether mobile data or Wi-Fi. If necessary, disable one of them to see if Dictation will work with the other available connection.
- Check that Dictation is not restricted in the “Usage Time” function. To check this:
- Open Settings on your iPhone/iPad, tap “Screen Time” and “Content & Privacy”. In the “Allowed Apps” section, see if “Siri and Dictation” is activated.
- On your Mac, open System Settings, click “Screen Time” and “Content & Privacy”. In the “App Restrictions” section, see if “Siri and Dictation” is turned on.
- Check if there is a problem with your device’s microphone. To do this, do a test with another application on the system to check if it is actually working.
- Keep your iPhone/iPad and Mac software up to date.
- Restart your device and try once more.
