As in previous years, Marmaille&Co is happy to set up, with various museums and cultural institutions, activities and workshops for children. The non-profit organization is thus back with the action Viens t’a (museums)! Until March 5, in these sometimes grumpy days, around forty museums in Brussels and Wallonia have concocted a program specially designed for children, most often aged 4 to 12, but sometimes also younger, as at the BELVue museum in Brussels. Even institutions a priori “serious” or “austere”, such as the National Bank Museum, have developed fun activities.
Many history and archeology museums are associated with Marmaille&Co as it is true that this type of area fascinates the little ones: the Magré-Tout, in Treignes, invites them to measure themselves once morest the Egyptian deities, La Malagne-Archéoparc de Rochefort invites them to participate in a course from February 26 during which they will be invited to feed the animals. On March 4, the Maison des Mégalithes invites them to put themselves in the shoes of a monk and learn the art of illumination. On the same day, they will also be called upon to discover nocturnal birds of prey. As for the Prehistomuseum, it will put its specialists to work throughout the holiday to explain in words suitable for children from 3 years old what experimental archeology is.
In a completely different field, but so topical, the Carnival and Mask Museum, in Binche, is organizing two activities: one this Monday, during which children will be able to make their cane, one of the major accessories accompanying fancy costumes, while throughout the following week, the museum will invite children to discover the professions of cinema, thus becoming day by day screenwriters, decorators, editors, directors and even producers of a stop motion film on the Carnival.
At Train World in Schaerbeek, a diamond is hidden somewhere. The quest for this treasure will take children through all the collections of this extraordinary museum, including the brand new exhibition, Animalia, a poetic exhibition that leads to reflection on biodiversity and its challenges in the face of climate change. its doors yesterday.
The Folon Foundation will be offering various activities throughout this holiday around the Belgian artist, but also in connection with Jean-Jacques Sempé who has been honored in recent months through an extraordinary exhibition. All the museums participating in Marmaille&Co and the menu of their activities can be found on muzeozoom.be.
As these holidays also mark the reopening of certain animal centers following a period of hibernation, we suggest you take a short tour of the Bièvre side, between Bouillon and Beauraing, at the Jardin des Hiboux where no less than 75 mainly nocturnal birds of prey but also diurnal are gathered. The activities that this animal park offers are animal-friendly; you can therefore witness the free flight of hawks and eagles. And following these demonstrations, the only professional beekeeper in Belgium will explain to you how honey is made and the life of bees (www.jardindeshiboux.be).
So many activities to forage over the next few days, or in the weeks to come.
