L’Echo attended the screening of the film on the massacre committed by Hamas on October 7 in Israel. Horror images, shown to the Belgian and foreign press.
A vehicle stops on a street in Gaza. Hamas terrorists pull out a lifeless body. A jubilant crowd gathers around the corpse, kicking it, shouting “Hallahu akbar”. This scene is taken froma compilation of images showing the massacre committed by the terrorist group Hamas on October 7 in southern Israel. L’Echo attended the screening of this film on Monday, with other Belgian and European media at the invitation of the Israeli embassy in Belgium.
“What is shocking in these videos is the intense joy expressed by the terrorists during the massacre.”
Haim Regev
Israeli Ambassador to the EU and NATO
The viewing took place under very strict security conditions, cell phones and PCs remaining outside the room. In this 46-minute film, we see images posted by Hamas on social media or found on cell phones and bodycams of killed or captured terrorists. It shows more than 130 bodies, men, women, children and babies mutilated or burned, which represents a tenth of the victims of this massacre.
More than 2,000 journalists, in Israel and the United States, were invited to watch this film. It was also seen by members of the Knesset. At the request of families, it will not be broadcastto the public.
Unbearable cruelty
The images show unbearable cruelty. Terrorists, armed with machine guns, grenades and bladed weapons, methodically shoot down civilians, taken by surprise in their cars, in the street, in their homes, at a music festival. Hamas fighters film themselves exulting with joyas if they were performing a heroic act.
“We are ready to show this film to the Belgian government if they wish.”
Idit Rosensweig Abu
Ambassador of Israel to Belgium and Luxembourg
During a telephone conversation, one of them says that his accomplices play football with heads. In another video, we see a car bring a woman back to Gaza as a hostagein the middle of the cheering crowd.
In a sequence filmed by a surveillance camera, we see a father taking refuge in a shelter with his two sons, a terrorist throws a grenade into the room and the father collapses. The children are brought bloodied into the kitchen, where the terrorist helps himself to a drink.
“What is shocking in these videos is the intense joy expressed by the terrorists during the massacre,” Israeli Ambassador to the EU and NATO Haim Regev said following the screening.
Israel’s ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, Idit Rosensweig Abu, said that “these images must be seen to combat Holocaust denial.” She said she was shocked that “a Belgian minister hesitates to qualify Hamas as a terrorist group”. “We are ready to show this film to the Belgian government if they wish,” she said.
