The Property Right Alliance organization revealed on Tuesday, October 22, the International Property Rights Index 2024. Venezuela ranked last among the 125 nations evaluated.

The country is in position 125 with a score of 1.90 along with countries such as Yemen, Haiti, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Chad.

The document noted that in July 2021, Venezuela was temporarily declassified from the study pending “the publication of national statistics.”

For this study, the Property Right Alliance took into account several factors such as the legal and political environment, physical property rights, and intellectual property rights.

“In this edition, the sample of 125 countries received an average score of 5.18 (maximum: 8.10 and minimum: 1.90),” the report stated.

It is an organization dedicated to the protection of innovation, intellectual property rights and physical property around the world.

Which countries lead the ranking in property rights?

According to the Property Right Alliance report, the 10 countries that lead the ranking in the defense of property rights are the following:

-Finland: has a score of 8.1

-Singapore: 7.9

-Denmark: 7.8

-Netherlands: 7.8

– Luxembourg: 7.8

-Sweden: 7.7

-New Zealand: 7.7

-Australia: 7,7

-Norway: 7.7

-Germany: 7.7

In the case of Latin America, Uruguay was the only country that appeared in the top 30 positions on this list with a score of 6.4, which placed it in 25th place.

What position has Venezuela occupied in previous years?

In 2023, Venezuela remained in 125th place in the Property Right Alliance ranking. In that year’s report, the country got a score of 1.9 regarding the defense of property rights.

That same year, the global average score of this report was 5.21, which means that the country was 3.31 points below the global average.

In 2022, unlike 2023 and 2024, the organization carried out the evaluation of 129 countries, but Venezuela once again occupied last place along with Yemen, Haiti, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Chad.

Since 2018, the Venezuelan non-governmental organization (NGO) Cedice Libertad has participated in this Property Right Alliance study and publishes the reports through its website.
