Since then, according to the WHO, more than 40 countries in the African Region have developed national policies on traditional medicine in 2022, up from just eight countries in 2000. Thirty countries have integrated traditional medicine into their national policies. In addition, 39 countries have established regulatory frameworks governing the activity of traditional healers.
