What now, Apple?! iPhone 14 line the most disappointing in the users’ view, says survey

The iPhone 14 family did not please Apple’s loyal audience. According to data revealed by a survey carried out by PerfectRec, the current generation of iPhones brought a drop in the positive review index among consumers, something almost unprecedented in 13 years in the market.

Gathering data from positive and negative ratings, the survey was able to capture that, since the iPhone 4, only the iPhone 5 generation brought a small drop in the number of 5-star ratings.

However, while the iPhone 13 brought in an 80% 5-star rating, the iPhone 14 lineup reduced that number to 72%. See the drop in the graph below.

The performance drop is not just the fault of the standard iPhone 14, but also the Pro variants. Citing as an example, the iPhone 13 Pro had 84% of its rating as 5 stars, but the iPhone 14 Pro saw that number drop to 76%.

Likewise, the iPhone 13 Pro Max had 86% and that dropped to 80% on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. For PerfectRec researchers, in the historical series, the gradual increase in positive reviews is directly related to the amount of news that Apple delivers on its devices.

Talking a little more regarding the situation of the iPhone 14 family, researchers suggest that the biggest problem is the fact that Apple has not delivered many changes in terms of design and hardware.

The situation became even more “annoying” for consumers when they noticed that only the Pro variants received the dynamic island. Not to mention the decision to reuse an older chip (A15) in the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus.

As a consequence, the rating of Pro variants is relatively higher than that of regular models. To make matters worse, as Apple must maintain this market strategy, the tendency is for the situation to be repeated at the launch of the iPhone 15 line.
