Barely sacked by Roma this Tuesday, the future of José Mourinho is already being discussed among the United Kingdom bookmakers. The Special One is not finished or has not finished, it depends, the fact is that the operators assign several possible destinations to it. First among them Newcastle at odds of three to one.
The bookmakers do not imagine that Mourinho will hang up
The Magpies are determined to climb back up the table following falling from 4th in the Premier League last season to 10th at this stage of the current season, while being knocked out of the Champions League by finishing last in their tough group. The Newcastle management remain committed to Eddie Howe at the moment, but bookmakers appear to think Mourinho’s availability might test their resolve – and the man himself may well be tempted by a chance at Premier League redemption.
A golden exile to Saudi Arabia or the MLS?
Saudi Arabia also seems to be an interesting option for Mourinho, as it would allow him to earn a lot of money. Several clubs in the league, such as Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, have the means to pay Mourinho’s high salaries and at the same time offer him quality squads. The hypothesis of seeing him bounce back in the Saudi Pro League is rated at 4. And if not in Saudi Arabia, then perhaps a move to MLS, at 6 to 1. The rumor that Mourinho might be lured from across the Atlantic has been circulating for years, but has so far proven to be wishful thinking.
What if the Special One returned home?
Otherwise, there remains a return to basics, in Porto where the Portuguese strategist revealed himself and won his first significant titles. The odds are 5 to 1. More improbable are the following possibilities: a return to Chelsea at odds of 8, Crystal Palace at 9, Benfica and Sporting at 11, the England selection at 16, as well as a return to ‘Inter Milan. And even further, Juventus, Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham and Arsenal at 41.
