A bill aimed at banning PFAS has just been unanimously adopted by the deputies of the National Assembly. What do we blame them for?

In recent years, they have been talked about a lot: PFAS or “eternal pollutants”, a family of compounds synthesized for industrial purposes since the 1950s, have the particularity of being almost indestructible. Thus, they persist for decades, even centuries, in the environment by accumulating in the air, soil, water, food and even in the human body. Some accused of being toxic or even carcinogenic, they have been at the heart of numerous health scandals and remain a major concern for the authorities. But what exactly are these substances that we find even in the hair of MPs? How do they contaminate us and what are their effects on health?
