March 10, 2024 – what a church holiday today according to the new and old calendar
March 10 according to the new style (March 23 according to the old) is the day of commemoration of the martyrs Codrates, Cyprian, Dionysius, Anecta, Paul and Chryskent, and Vasilisa of Corinth.
Kodrat was born in the 3rd century, during the persecution of Christians. He was orphaned at an early age, grew up in the desert, where he met Christians and accepted the faith. Later, Codratus studied literacy and the art of medicine and often spent time in the desert with his friends and followers – Cyprian, Dionysius, Anektus, Paul, Chryskentus and others.
By order of the persecutor of Christians, Decius Codratus and his friends were captured and thrown into prison. They were forced to renounce the Christian faith, subjected to torture, but the men remained steadfast. Then the martyrs were thrown to the beasts, but they did not touch them. In the end, all the martyrs were sent to be executed. Many holy wives voluntarily followed their husbands to torture, among whom was Vasilisa of Corinth, who was executed along with others.

In the old days, people used to go fishing at this time – there were a lot of fish in the reservoirs. March 10 is considered a good day for cleaning, you can light a lamp or a candle, sprinkle the house with holy water.
