In its April edition, the magazine of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), released an exhaustive study where it tested recognized brands of box breadan essential food in the pantries of Mexican families due to its versatility.
A total of 46 participated in the study bread brandsamong them 9 were multigrain, 12 white bread, 3 multigrain with sourdough, 1 whole wheat with sourdough, 1 wheat and rye with sourdough, 2 gluten-free, 1 white with sourdough.
For this study they took into account details such as its packaging, the price, its level of sodium and of sugarsyielding the following data:
In the section of whole wheat bread highlighted the “Bimbo” double zero bread for having a low sodium content, likewise the brand “Canadian Bagels” had the lowest sugar levels.
As to affordable pricesthe breads integral that stood out at this point were the brands “Lecaroz”, “Molino blanco de Mateo”, “Member’s Mark” and “Esperanza Integral”.
As for the White breadthe brand “Member’s Mark” recognition was given to the low sodium content, along with “Great Value”: As for the cheapest options, “Member’s Mark” and “El Molino Blanco de Mateo” also stood out.
Among the multigrain bread brands, the “Lecaroz” and “El Molino Blanco de Mateo” brands stood out for being the most affordable, and the “Filler” brand also stood out for having the lowest levels of sodium and sugar with its sliced bread with nut and seven grain bread. Followed by “Bimbo cero cero” and “Lecaroz”.
