What is known about the shooting suspect in Highland Park, Chicago, Illinois?

The wave of violence in the United States continues, as A shooting at the 4th of July parade, Independence Day, in Highland Park, in Chicago, Illinois, left at least 6 dead and 38 wounded.

Five of the six dead were pronounced dead at the scene, and the sixth victim died at a hospital, Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek said, according to NBC News.

What is known regarding the shooting suspect in Highland Park, Chicago, Illinois?

Police initially described the suspect as a white male between the ages of 18 and 20 with long black hair, but this followingnoon they identified a man as a “person of interest” in the shooting. The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” E. Crimo III. Authorities are searching for a silver 2010 Honda Fit compact vehicle with Illinois license plate DM80653. Police did not disclose what led them to Crimo.

Just over an hour following pinpointing the suspect, the authorities indicated that he was captured.

The FBI-Chicago has asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to send it to 1-800-CALLFBI. In addition, the FBI has established a platform where citizens can upload multimedia information related to the shooting, such as videos and photographs.

In accordance with NBC NewsHighland Park Police Commander Chris O’Neill told reporters a high-powered rifle was found. “Looks like he was shooting from a roof”Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Covelli told reporters. The shooter reached his spot elevated by a ladder attached to a building, Covelli added.

The parade included dozens of police and firefighters. Shortly following gunfire erupted, officers moved toward the sniper, causing him to stop and run. “It was discreet and very difficult to see”Covelli said.
