Have you heard of a feature called VoLTE (Voice over LTE — or voice over LTE, in free translation)? It first appeared in the Apple world in 2014, when the company introduced the iPhones 6 and 6 Plus.

But what exactly would that be and how can you turn this feature on and off? This is what we will explain in the next paragraphs.

What is VoLTE?

VoLTE allows you to use your iPhone’s LTE (4G) network to transmit phone calls, instead of the normal networks we already know.

Among its main benefits, we have much better call quality than those made traditionally, as well as a faster connection.

For it to work the way it was designed, however, it is necessary that both devices (that is, the caller’s device and the recipient’s device) are VoLTE enabled. As it uses the 4G network for such activity, you still need to be in a location where there is a stable signal.

Currently, the three main Brazilian operators — Claro, TIM and Vivo — support VoLTE on the iPhone. If you have any questions regarding this (such as the plans in which it is included, for example), please contact them directly.

How to Enable or Disable VoLTE on iPhone?

If you want, you can turn voLTE on or off at any time on your iPhone. To do this, open Settings, tap Cellular » Cellular Data Options » Voice and Data and turn on the “VoLTE” switch.
