BeReal’s premise, as we’ve already shown in a series of tutorials here on MacMagazineis that you take a daily photo or video capture of what you are doing at the moment — using both the rear and front cameras.
This also applies to the TikTok Now, feature of the Chinese giant created precisely to compete with BeReal. It can be used both within the TikTok app and also through a dedicated one, available separately on the App Store.

Open TikTok and tap the “Now” tab or, if you prefer, download the dedicated app. In the latter case, link with your existing account or create a new one from scratch.
Once this is done, you can now publish. This can be done manually (by opening the apps) or tapping the notification that will be sent to you throughout the day. After receiving it, you will have three minutes to do this.
After capturing what you are seeing in front of you and what appears on the front camera, you can review the post, download it or take it once more. Over there, you can also choose who can see your Now: “All” or “Friends”.
When you’re satisfied, tap the button with a ✔︎. Later, it is still possible to make privacy adjustments or download Now by tapping the post and the button represented by three dots.
By tapping on your photo (in the lower right corner of TikTok Now), you can even check an archive of your posts. To see this inside TikTok, go to the feature tab and then to the calendar icon (in the upper right corner).
To see other Nows posted, select the tab represented by a clock and toggle between “Friends” and “Explore” (in the dedicated app) or tap on the resource tab (in the TikTok app).
