What is and how to use Satellite Road Assistance [iPhone]

When Apple launched the iPhone 14 line last year, it took the opportunity to make a new security feature available: the Emergency SOS via satellite. So, even in places where there is no internet connection or cellular signal, you can ask for help from emergency services.

This year, Maçã advanced in this direction with the Roadside Assistance via satellite (something like satellite Roadside Assistance), allowing drivers who are traveling in more remote areas to ask for help to change a tire or solve some other type of problem with their vehicle.

Check out everything about this service below! ????

Compatibility

O Roadside Assistance via satellite is available for the entire line of iPhones 14 and 15, that is:

iPhone 14 e 14 Plus
iPhone 14 Pro e 14 Pro Max
iPhone 15 e 15 Plus
iPhone 15 Pro e 15 Pro Max

Additionally, they must be running iOS 17 or later.

Where is it available?

Currently, the function is only available to those living in the United States (except Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands).

However, travelers in the country will also be able to use it, as long as the iPhone was not purchased in the following countries: Armenia, Belarus, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Russia.

Do I need to pay?

Right now, all Apple-designed satellite emergency features are free, but that won’t last forever. It promises free access for two years after activating the device.

So far, however, the amount that will be charged in the future has not been revealed by the company. Another point to consider when we talk about this resource is that it was created in partnership with AAA (American Automobile Association). Those who are already associated with it will not need to pay anything more, but for those who are not, the amount will be charged after the requested service ends.

How to ask for help?

To ask a professional for help, open the Messages app on your iPhone, tap the new message button (in the top right corner) and type “Roadside”.

If you are in a location without cellular and Wi-Fi coverage, the option to use the feature will appear on the screen. Tap “Roadside Assistance” and follow the steps to ask for help.
