O macOS Sonoma 14 brought several new features to consumers. One of them is dedicated to those who enjoy playing on Mac. This is the Game mode (Game Mode).
Even though most players don’t do this on Macs, this new function wants to change that scenario and is very welcome for anyone who uses or intends to use their computer for such activity.

Game Mode is available on all Macs equipped with Apple Silicon and running macOS 14 or later. Are they:

What does Game Mode do on Mac?
According to Apple, whenever this mode is activated, the game will have CPU priorityCentral processing unitor central processing unit.”>1 and the GPUGraphics processing unitor graphics processing unit.”>2 of your Mac, slowing down your processing for background tasks.
Additionally, it doubles the Bluetooth sampling rate, reducing input and audio latency for wireless accessories, such as dedicated wireless controllers and AirPods.
How to enable/disable Game Mode on Mac?
There’s not much mystery here: Game Mode is activated whenever a game is open on your Mac in full screen. To leave it like this, just click on the green ball in the window (in the top left corner).
When you do this, an icon with a video game controller will be shown in the menu bar. To deactivate this mode, click on the same icon and select “Disable Game Mode”.
