How to make Anadama bread?
Anadama bread has its place as part of a healthy and balanced diet, provided it is consumed on time, in moderate quantities. Take note of the following instructions.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of active dry yeast (30 g)
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water (125 ml)
- 1/2 stick of dairy butter (65 g)
- 1 cup boiling water (250ml)
- 1/4 cup cornmeal (50 g)
- 1/4 cup light molasses (50 g)
- Salt to taste
- 3/4 cup whole milk (185 ml)
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (400 g)
- 2 cups unbleached wheat flour (400 g)
Step by step
- First, dissolve the yeast in warm water in a small container. Let stand for regarding 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the butter, boiling water, cornmeal, molasses and salt. It is important to mix everything well until you get a homogeneous result.
- Once the butter has melted, it will be time to add the milk. Wait for it to temper and incorporate the already dissolved yeast.
- All that remains is to add whole wheat flour and unbleached flour to get the dough ready. Of course, knead well with your hands so that it has the desired texture. To do this, place it on a floured surface and stir.
- Right following, put the mixture in a salad bowl that you will cover with a tea towel and leave the bowl in a warm place for at least 1 hour, so that the preparation doubles in volume.
- After the suggested time, divide the dough in half and form into loaves. Wait another 30 minutes and bake another 30 minutes at 180 degrees.
- If necessary, prolong the cooking a little so that the bread cooks well inside. Let cool and consume.
