Find out official information from Cuban Customs for travelers regarding import prohibitions.

According to a note published on their website, when leaving Cuba passengers must not carry with them or in their accompanying luggage:

• Drugs and narcotics Psychotropic substances or hallucinogens
• Precursor substances
• Explosives
• Blood products
• Literature, articles and objects that are obscene or pornographic or that threaten the general interests of the nation

Likewise, the export of the following articles and products is not authorized:

• Cultural assets declared part of the Cultural Heritage of the Nation
• Handwritten books, incunabula (published between 1440 and 1500)
• Books and pamphlets that have the stamps of libraries of the National System of Public Libraries and Cuban Organizations and Institutions, as well as Cuban Books of “R” editions
• Foreign books, pamphlets and serial publications printed in the 16th to 18th centuries and Cuban books published in the 18th century
• Lobster, in any quantity and form of presentation

On the other hand, Cuban Customs has No admittance of:

• Psychotropic substances or hallucinogens.
• Precursor substances.
• Explosives.
• Blood products.
• Drugs and narcotics.
• Literature, articles and objects that are obscene or pornographic or that threaten the general interests of the nation.
• Air conditioners with a capacity greater than 1 ton or 12,000 BTU;
• Electric stoves and burners, except those called induction ceramic cooktops, of any model and whose electrical consumption does not exceed 1500 Watt per focus;
• Electric ovens, except those called microwave ovens and those whose electrical consumption does not exceed 2000 Watts.
• Electrical resistors of any type.
• Light motor vehicles (cars, motorcycles and bicycles with combustion engines).
• Engines and bodies of cars and motorcycles (frames).
• Products of animal origin (bovine, pig, sheep, goat and all species of ungulates) that may be carriers of diseases.

Baggage allowance for Cuba in 2024

Until September 30, 2024, you will be able to bring into Cuba luggage containing food, medicines, toiletries and medical supplies. All of this, without limitation of quantity and free of tariffs.
