Corneille has experienced other trials. From the age of 6 and a half, the singer is alivesexual abuse ctime by his 18-year-old aunt. Later, his life changed once once more on the night of April 15, 1994. When he was only 17, a majority of his family was murdered during the genocide in rwanda between the Tutsi and Hutu people. Settled for years in Canada, Corneille also plunged back into his painful past to tie up his new album: “With the death of George Floyd, I who am not at all communitarian, I still felt obliged to take sides. Perhaps this is an identity complex of a member of a diaspora who does not really know what he is. So my reflex was to want to belong to something, to a group, to a movement with music.”

Corneille and his fear of not being up to it
