During the past few hours, pioneers circulated on social media, some videos of adulterated instant coffee products following adding ceramic powder to them, in light of the ration campaigns intensifying their efforts to prevent their spread in the markets.
In this regard, “The Consulto” explains the harmful effects of adulterated instant coffee, according to Dr. Nahla Abdel-Wahhab, consultant of bacteria, immunity and nutrition, and head of the bacteria department at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine.
Harmful effects of adulterated instant coffee
Ceramic powder or cement added to adulterated Nescafe may cause a sudden and short-term increase in blood pressure levels, and thus damage the kidneys, which may lead to kidney failure, given that blood pressure is the second most common cause of kidney disease.

Kidney failure, as a result of the adulterated fast-dissolving drinks containing some harmful substances that inhibit the action of adenosine, which is responsible for the return of water from the kidneys to the body before it is excreted in the form of urine.
And the consultant of bacteria, immunity and nutrition pointed out that the instant coffee drink is a mixture of artificial additives, such as bleaches, flavors, and cream, that contains many calories, warning once morest even excessive consumption of it, because it leads to an increase in saturated fats in the body, what It causes weight gain, and thus 1- the heart and blood vessels.
