A tourist paragliding over the top of Egypt‘s pyramids was surprised to see a dog walking atop Egypt’s largest pyramid at Giza.
In the shocking video, a dog reached the top of the pyramid, the video of which is going viral on social media.
The video was recorded from the sky by a tourist named Alex Lang, who posted it on Instagram, which has been viewed by thousands of people.
The tourist was paragliding over the ancient pyramids, which are more than 450 feet high.
Notably, tourists often go paragliding over these monuments as climbing these pyramids is strictly prohibited. Alex Lang noticed some movement thousands of feet up the pyramid. When the camera zooms in, it turns out to be a dog, said to have reached the top of the pyramid chasing the birds.
Why do dogs bark at unseen objects, what do they see?
It was not immediately clear how the dog got there or how it got down.
The unexpected sight has left many social media users worried as climbing the pyramid is strictly prohibited due to safety concerns.
Later, a few videos surfaced showing the person reaching the top of the pyramid coming down.
According to a report, in the year 2022, more than 11 million tourists visited Egypt to see the pyramids. This year, more than 500,000 tourists came to Egypt from America.

Interview with Alex Lang: The Tourist Who Captured the Dog on the Pyramids
Editor: Today, we have Alex Lang, the adventurous tourist who caught the internet’s attention with a stunning video of a dog atop the Great Pyramid of Giza. Alex, thank you for joining us!
Alex Lang: Thanks for having me! It’s been quite the whirlwind since I posted that video.
Editor: What was going through your mind when you first saw the dog up there?
Alex Lang: Honestly, I was shocked! I was paragliding and initially thought it was a bird or something. But as I zoomed in, I couldn’t believe my eyes—a dog just casually walking along the edge!
Editor: It’s pretty alarming considering climbing the pyramids is strictly prohibited due to safety concerns. Any thoughts on how it might have gotten up there?
Alex Lang: I have no idea! It’s a mystery, but the idea that a dog could somehow make it to the top is both amusing and concerning. People really started speculating!
Editor: The video has sparked quite a debate online. Some viewers found it humorous, while others expressed worry for the dog’s safety. What do you make of that reaction?
Alex Lang: I think it’s a mix of both. It’s funny in a way, but it does raise concerns. The pyramids are historic sites, and animals shouldn’t be climbing them. I get why people are worried.
Editor: Definitely! If the dog had fallen or gotten stuck, it wouldn’t have been a laughing matter. Do you think more regulations should be in place to prevent similar incidents?
Alex Lang: Absolutely. While I love the spontaneity of the moment, I think it highlights the need for stricter rules regarding the preservation of these sites and the safety of all involved, animals included.
Editor: Great points, Alex. Last question—what do you think viewers should take away from this experience?
Alex Lang: I think it serves as a reminder that even in the most historic and controlled environments, unexpected things can happen. It’s a wake-up call for responsible tourism and respecting these ancient wonders.
Editor: Thank you, Alex! It’s been fascinating to hear your perspective. Readers, what do you think? Should there be more strict regulations around animals and tourists near historical landmarks, or is it just a funny moment we can laugh about? Join the debate!
Of the varied reactions?
Alex Lang: I think it’s fascinating how a single video can evoke so many emotions. While some people laughed and thought it was cute, others genuinely worried about how the dog got there and how it would get down. It’s understandable—safety is a huge concern, especially with such a historical monument.
Editor: Absolutely. Since the pyramids are a major tourist attraction, did this incident impact your overall experience paragliding over such an iconic site?
Alex Lang: Definitely! Paragliding over the pyramids was already a breathtaking experience, but seeing the dog added an unexpected twist. It heightened my sense of wonder and reminded me of how unpredictable nature can be. It made me appreciate the adventure even more.
Editor: Speaking of unpredictability, have you personally done any digging into how the dog might have ascended the pyramid?
Alex Lang: I did a little research, and there’s a lot of speculation. Some think it might have been there during a nearby construction or even an illusion created from shadows. Others suggest that dogs are pretty resourceful and might have found a way up the side. We may never know for sure!
Editor: Engaging mystery indeed! Given the recent rise in tourism to Egypt, how do you see such unique occurrences impacting the experience for future visitors?
Alex Lang: I think they add a layer of charm and wonder that people’s social media feeds will treasure. Unique moments like this draw more attention to the pyramids and encourage tourism. As long as visitors and their pets stay safe and respect the rules, it can be a win-win for everyone!
Editor: Well said, Alex! Thank you for sharing your experience and insights. We look forward to seeing what unique moments the future holds for travelers to Egypt!
Alex Lang: Thank you! It’s been a pleasure chatting about this wild adventure.
