During the early hours of this Saturday, March 16, relatives of Humberto Espinosa Magaña, best known for his role as El Ecoloco in Odisea Burbujas, confirmed to Grupo Formula that the actor died.

At 94 years old, this artist left a great void in the followers of Mexican television, since since the 80s he captivated children and adults with his role as a villain in the beloved Televisa show.

In the documentary Odisea Burbujas, a musical history, Humberto Espinosa Magaña told how he began his journey in what would be one of the most popular programs of the time.

According to what he said, it all started at XEW when he was able to meet Silvia Roche, the creator.

“The lady looked out and told me: ‘Come, I came yesterday, but you didn’t come. I tried to program an actor, but when he didn’t come, you stayed,’ and I told him: ‘But why leave, where is that creativity? Create me a character,’” she recounted.

Roche would have been very surprised and following talking a little, the woman mentioned to him that he would think he was ‘a pig in love with garbage, smog, smoke’ and he accepted.

“Over time she came up with very nice lyrics and contacted the teacher who had a wonderful orchestra, they were serious things, he came to Mexico (…) that was how Ecoloco came out and others that I forget right now,” he commented .

After Humberto Espinosa Magaña participated in Odisea Burbujas, which was broadcast on television between 1979 and 1984, the artist moved away from the public eye a bit.

However, Canal Once points out that in 2018 it contacted the actor to extend the invitation to reprise his role as ‘El Ecoloco’ in a series that would be called Planeta Burbujas.

Although this would have been something very nostalgic and emotional, the company detailed that Magaña declined due to “health problems” derived from two hip operations that did not allow him to move with total freedom.
