The Women’s Archery team gave Mexico its first medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Aztec team defeated the Netherlands, which curiously included a Mexican who now represents the Dutch team: Gabriela Schloesser.
The athlete who represented Mexico in several competitions surprised with her statements after the victory of the Mexican team made up of Alejandra Valencia, Ana Paula Vázquez and Angela Ruiz, who won the first medal not only of the Mexican delegation, but also of all of Latin America.

Gabriela Scholoesser talks about Mexico’s victory
Gabriela Bayardo, now Scholoesser, said after the defeat of the Netherlands that she still feels more Mexican than Dutch and for that reason she is proud of the Mexicans’ medal.
“I am honestly very happy that the girls won, but obviously it is difficult, right? Because we are also competing, and I also want to win… Yes, honestly, I feel proud to be Mexican, to have been on the team, and honestly, I am sad, but I feel like I forgot my history years ago and I continue to focus on archery, but also on being able to win because we are all here for the same thing.”
