Today, Iran and Israel are each other’s staunch enemies and bloodthirsty, but there was a time when both made missiles together. This is about the 1970s when Iran was ruled by Reza Shah Pahlavi, that is, there was a monarchy in the country. At that time, relations with Israel were very good and both countries were on the path of cooperation with each other in various fields.
Reza Shah Pahlavi wanted to make Iran a major force at least regionally by making it very strong defensively. For this, along with the acquisition of weapons, skill in the manufacture of weapons was also required. It was necessary for him to correct his affairs by cooperating with someone.
An agreement was reached with Israel under which weapons were to be acquired and manufactured in exchange for Iranian oil. This agreement was concluded in April 1977. The deal was named Project Flower. The value of this contract was one billion twenty million dollars. A total of 6 oil-for-arms deals were signed.
Israel and Iran were to jointly develop advanced missiles with a range of 300 kilometers. Each missile was capable of carrying up to 750 kg of explosives and other bombs. Initially, it was decided that these missiles would also be capable of carrying nuclear weapons, but then Israel dropped this issue due to security concerns.
Experts from Iran and Israel have also developed some missiles and tested them. Then it happened that everything changed in Iran. Ayatollah Khomeini ended his exile in France and took the path to his homeland where he led the revolution. The monarchy ended, and Iran’s joint missile development program with Israel also ended.
