The survivors of the sinking of the British sailing ship Bayesian, who yesterday afternoon left, from a secondary exit, the Hotel Domina Zagarella, where they had been guests since the day of the tragedy, have reportedly already left Italy aboard a private jet. Those who survived the shipwreck returned to London. Among them was Angela Barcares, 57-year-old wife of entrepreneur Mike Lynch and mother of Hannah, her 18-year-old daughter who drowned. “No one on the crew raised the alarm”: this is the information provided by those who experienced the tragedy first-hand and included in the reports collected by investigators. The only alert was that of the emergency rocket, set off at 4:38, when the sailing ship had already sunk 50 meters. Those who managed to save themselves, as reported in Il Corriere della Sera, did so because they were outside their accommodation at the right time.

Investigators are working on how the Bayesian sank on Monday night in Palermo. Yesterday morning, a series of statements from the magistrates of Termini Imerese dispelled the dark points of those cursed 16 minutes. “The boat sank by the bow”, “the sailing ship was probably not hit by a waterspout, but by a downburst”. And again “it was a sudden and unexpected event” and the boat “could have been in that point of the roadstead”, report the chief prosecutor Ambrogio Cartosio and the deputy Raffaele Cammarano. What is missing or what the prosecutor is keeping under the strictest secrecy are “the whys”, the responsibilities for an unforeseeable disaster and “likely caused by incorrect behavior of those on board”, underlined Cartosio, who however did not go further, hiding behind a “we are evaluating the individual responsibilities”.
