The German chancellor has hesitated for a long time – now he too is to go to the Ukraine. If Scholz wants to stay true to his own words, he, Emmanuel Macron and Mario Draghi have to announce something important.
If it goes by its own standards, it must Olaf Scholz have something heavy in their luggage when he soon travels to the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. The German Chancellor had repeatedly emphasized that he would not only be there for a photo shoot. So what is it? More guns? The promise to stand up for the status of Ukraine as EU– Use candidate for accession?
That Scholz goes to Kyiv is considered as good as decided. Although the Federal Chancellery did not confirm the trip, it did not deny it either. The Italian daily newspaper “La Stampa” claims to have found out the exact date: this Thursday. That is at least plausible because, together with Scholz, the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghiand the French President, Emmanuel Macronshould make their way to Kyiv.
