What does a license plate without the flag of the Russian Federation mean?: masterok — LiveJournal

Have you seen such signs on cars? Do you know how they differ from more common and popular signs with a Russian flag?

Now I’ll tell…

Obviously, these are also Russian signs and they were issued in Russia. Some theory that these signs belong to any state structure is also erroneous.

In recent years there have been no changes in the format of license plates in Russia. All vehicles are divided into groups, for each of which there is a license plate in the form of a plate, on which numbers and letters are applied in a certain order.

And let’s note separately – GOST explicitly states that the image of the flag is an option, not a duty.

That is, it turns out that a car with a license plate without a national flag is no different from other cars with license plates that have a “flag”. The absence of state symbols does not give any advantages and in no way infringes on the rights of the motorist.

And then you can already hear quite a few myths from motorists regarding such signs. Like, such cars are used by employees of state authorities and special services of Russia. This is of course not true.

Until recently, license plates in Russia were produced exclusively by state-owned enterprises and organizations. But recently it was decided by law to transfer the production of state license plates to private hands. And so many private companies that have licenses for this activity began to produce license plates for cars without a tricolor. Why?
