what disturbances to expect in the city?

A European summit on tourism is taking place this Thursday 17 and Friday 18 March in Dijon. Chaired by Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister Delegate in charge of Tourism, alongside Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for the Internal Market, this conference aims “to share common initiatives with, in sight, the recovery of the sector, the strengthening European tourism in Europe and the transition to a more sustainable model”. The event takes place within the framework of the French presidency of the European Union in 2022.

As such, many ministers will be traveling to Dijon. What disturbances are to be expected for local residents and passers-by? The Côte-d’Or prefecture, in charge of operations, explains: “The government wanted to limit the constraints for the population to what is strictly necessary. In this spirit, the police system has been sized in such a way as to ensure security on a perimeter through the positioning of inspection and filtering points, without the arteries of the city center being prohibited to pedestrians. However, at the arrival times of the processions, pedestrians may be asked by the police to wait a few moments or to slightly modify their route, in order to ensure their safety. »

Thirty processions

Concerning the traffic plan, around thirty processions will evolve in the city center of Dijon, in the sector of the station, the hotels, the prefecture of the Côte-d’Or and the palace of the Dukes. These vehicles will be systematically escorted by motorcyclists from the national police and the national gendarmerie who will ensure, in conjunction with their colleagues in the field present at the main intersections, the fluidity of traffic. “It is recalled that the movements of processions will take place over limited times and that we thank motorists and pedestrians for their understanding and vigilance. »
