What did VNPT say when accused of cutting cables of CMC and SCTV?

According to representatives of CMC Telecom and SCTV, VNPT Dong Nai had previously announced an increase in the rental price of cable culverts. Specifically, in March 2021, VNPT requested to change the rental unit price from 2.9 to 6.8 times higher than the old unit price in the signed contract in 2018. Disagree with the unreasonable increase in price. So in July 2021, SCTV, CMC Telecom, HTC, NetNam and Viet Thanh signed the petition and sent it to the authorities. After receiving the petition, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction, and the Ministry of Information and Communications asked VNPT not to infringe on the assets of enterprises using the same infrastructure, guide VNPT to implement the rental agreement and take responsibility. responsible for notifying the registration of rental rates in accordance with the law.

In early December 2021, VNPT continued to offer a new unit price 3.9 to 6 times higher than the old unit price. And on December 15, 2022, VNPT Dong Nai cut the cable, causing information interruption.

CMC Telecom said that the cable cut by VNPT Dong Nai twice in a row has seriously affected customers and economic organizations, including many large enterprises and foreign enterprises operating in Vietnam. , especially the peak time late 2022.

VNPT Dong Nai failed to come up with an appropriate plan to solve problems under the guidance of competent state agencies and continuously required other telecommunications businesses to accept the rental price unilaterally set by them. . The unit price that VNPT Dong Nai forces its units to accept is being assessed as unreasonable compared to the common ground, up to 20% higher than the existing unit price in HCMC.

After the Lunar New Year, CMC Telecom said that they had just received an official letter from VNPT Dong Nai asking to sign a contract with a high price.

On February 4, a representative of VNPT explained that these cable lines are not included in the contract signed between VNPT and CMC and SCTV. However, the parties have signed a record of this cable number and CMC and SCTV have not yet paid when they have used the cable culvert for several years. “VNPT with CMC and SCTV will have a meeting to negotiate with each other regarding the rent of cable culverts this week,” a representative of VNPT said.

A VNPT leader said that VNPT now has to pay a huge rent for the culvert, cable tank and poles to the Electricity of Vietnam every year. Therefore, businesses using VNPT’s cable culverts must also share this cost with VNPT. However, there are many businesses that run cables into the sewers without signing contracts and without paying VNPT fees.

Sharing with VietnamNet regarding this issue, a representative of the Department of Telecommunications said that this has been a painful problem for many years. The Department has received documents from enterprises and requested VNPT to send explanatory reports. The Department also requires the parties to negotiate on the rental price of cable culverts according to the guidance of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Finance. But up to this point, because the price has not been agreed, next week the Department of Telecommunications will invite businesses to work specifically.
