What did the two men say? 2024-07-17 05:37:45

Freddy Beleris shortly following one passed the door of the Maximos Palace where he had a meeting with the Greek Prime Minister for regarding forty minutes.

At the beginning of their meeting they had the following dialogue:

Kyriakos Mitsotakis: I have many reasons, my dear Fredis, to be glad to welcome you today at Megaros Maximos. First, let me congratulate you on your election as a Greek MEP now, in Brussels and Strasbourg, with New Democracy. I am sure that you will fulfill your duties in full. Let me tell you how glad I am that this great adventure seems to be coming to an end. It went without saying, you got the license in order to be able to exercise your duties and take the oath. I hope that very soon you will be out of prison for good, that this painful chapter can be closed for all of us, so that we can move on, look ahead.

Freddy Beleris: President, I would like to thank you in person for supporting me all this time. I will honor the trust you have placed in me by putting me on the European ballot. I think that the rule of law, the right to elect and be elected is not self-evident for the country where we live. I want to help them. To help the Greek National Minority to stay in their ancestral homes, but also for this state to come closer and become a member of the European family.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis: This is what we also want and you should know – besides, I think I have proven this in practice – that I stand by the people of the Greek National Minority. We also have every reason to want an Albania that makes progress on these issues, that comes closer to Europe, but strictly adheres to its European commitments. This I think is a common goal that we all want to work towards.

Freddy Beleris: “Mitsotakis is the leader of all Hellenism”

“Proud to go to take up my duties as an MEP”, said Mr Freddy Beleris who arrived at the airport “El. Venizelos” at noon on Monday (7/15/24).

Freddy Beleris, who received permission from the prisons of Albania where he is being held to go to Strasbourg in order to be sworn in as an MEP, said he was moved and personally thanked Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“I want to thank the Greek Prime Minister for his trust. He proved that he is the leader of all Hellenism and protects all Greeks wherever they are. I will fight to defend the rights of our homeland, of the Greeks wherever they live”, he stressed.

“My adventure is coming to an end, the fight for democracy, the rule of law and the freedom of citizens continues,” he underlined.

“The support of my own people, the Albanians and the Greeks, gives me strength and courage,” the ND MEP pointed out.

“I want to send the message to the residents of Himarra that they are not alone. They have Mother Greece to protect them. Their demands are fair. Sooner or later they will be vindicated.” referring to his fellow citizens.

Speaking regarding the role of the European Union, he pointed out “The European Union must not allow the will and will of the peoples within Europe to be disrespected.”
