Seventy-seven years ago, on January 27, 1945, the Red Army liberated Auschwitz, the largest Nazi extermination center. Between 1941 and 1945, more than a million Jews were deported there, almost all of whom were murdered in gas chambers.
As early as 1942, the Allies had precise information on the systematic massacre of the Jews and other minorities in Europe: aerial photographs, testimonies of escapees… Why did they not immediately launch raids to stop the atrocities committed in the camps? Could they have stopped the Holocaust earlier?
